Biography

Sean is the founder of Clarity, and has piloted the company’s emergence from a startup to a market leader in the healthcare communications space within five years, earning a rank in Inc. Magazine's annual Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the country for three consecutive years. In its short life, the company has also seen explosive year over year growth in revenue, client base and staffing.

Sean relies on nearly 20 years of healthcare experience to drive Clarity's rapid growth while maintaining the core values upon which the company was founded. Those core values, centered on a passion to exceed customer expectations all the time, have resulted in tremendous loyalty and referral growth. While focusing on the business, he never loses sight of Clarity’s social responsibility. Clarity for Charity, developed to help the company assist organizations along the Connecticut shoreline, has supported dozens of causes since its inception in 2011.

On a day-to-day basis, Sean is responsible for directing business development efforts through management of the executive team including sales, marketing, operations, client relations and information technology. His success in new business generation is grounded in his past experiences in marketing and in strategic, new product, and technology applications development. Sean’s passion and expertise will continue to power Clarity's growth.

Sean's talents include the ability to identify the unique needs of organizations. His recognition of the distinct needs of both regional and national clients allows the company to serve both groups equally well. Clarity's ability to create client responsive applications is a result of Sean's dedication to providing the best possible client experience. He has helped build Clarity’s outstanding reputation by managing those relationships with care and professionalism, streamlining new client implementations and launching technology initiatives to support the dynamic needs of the industry.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Sciences from Bentley University.

Steve joined Clarity in January of 2008 after a decade inside the national healthcare and insurance business marketplace. His success with new product development and marketing strategies for membership enrollment and retention have been instrumental in bringing Clarity to the industry-leading position it holds today. His impact on the company is best measured by our phenomenal sales growth and positive retention rates.

Steve spearheads numerous initiatives: developing successful print-on-demand programs, streamlining marketing communications, developing modern, cost-effective solutions to replace inefficient legacy documentation methods, and ultimately, creating an enhanced member experience. He skillfully manages the teams responsible for sales, marketing, and relationship management by applying his extensive marketing and operations background.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond.

Biography

Brian joined Clarity in November of 2007. Under Brian's direction, the Clarity application platform was designed from the bottom up to be easily maintainable, configurable and scalable. For two decades, Brian has demonstrated success in assembling and motivating talented technical teams, employing advanced technologies, and creating extremely successful application platforms.

At Clarity, Brian manages a team responsible for design, development and maintenance of information systems including system architecture, client facing applications, web development, and database management. Prior to Clarity, Brian held high-level positions in the print-on-demand solution and insurance marketplaces. Brian has also worked as a systems architect and provided technical direction to large teams on the appropriate use of advanced technologies such as object-oriented programming, web development, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

While employed by Aetna, Brian designed, coded and led the team that created MedQuery™. MedQuery™ was Aetna's flagship application that used expert systems technology to optimize medical utilization. MedQuery™ was awarded a patent (5,517,405) in 1996 and Brian was listed as an inventor.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Sciences from Southern Connecticut State University.


Biography

Dan joined the Clarity team in November 2011 with over two decades of proven leadership experience. His strengths and experience are instrumental in keeping Clarity relevant and a leader in the marketplace.

As chief operating officer (COO), Dan provides direction and guidance on strategy, decision-making and goal attainment for finance, project management, client service and human resources. His collaborative approach, one of the tenants of Clarity's culture, consistently optimizes business objectives and refines goals to promote client centric efficiencies. Dan’s core strength in team building and designing scalable, long term business strategies have proven to increase client care during periods of consistent growth.

Dan previously served as COO at Ventus Networks, a technology company providing intelligent infrastructure and secure financial frameworks to the telecommunications and financial sectors. Dan also served in the US Navy, retiring as Assistant Chief of Staff, Submarine Logistics, Northeast.

Dan is a graduate of the New School University, with a BS in Human Resource Management. He is also trained in Lean Six Sigma and holds an executive certification in Project Management.

Biography

Glenn joined us in 2014 as the chief product officer. He is an experienced business professional with success in designing, deploying and managing customer-facing, secure, high-speed transaction processing systems in the financial services, government gaming, and healthcare sectors.

He joins Clarity from Tunstall Americas where he was the CIO with responsibilities for software development, infrastructure/network engineering, and product management providing healthcare solutions to promote independent living technologies and 24/7 healthcare communication services to connect individuals with family and their care teams to promote better health.

Prior to Tunstall, Glenn was the managing director of retail management for Blue Cross Blue Shield Rhode Island where he was responsible for transforming the organization’s sales and servicing processes in the retail delivery space for consumer segments in preparation of the Affordable Care Act.

He also was the vice president of systems integration at GTECH, S.p.A, responsible for systems engineering and the project management office of a worldwide implementation team of engineers and project managers designing and installing lottery and gaming systems around the world. Glenn spent a large portion of his career in executive leadership in the retail banking industry designing, building and managing ATM, debit and online banking/bill payment solutions.

Glenn earned his MBA from the University of Rhode Island where he also earned his BS in Management Information Systems.

Biography

Sarah joined Clarity as controller in August of 2015 after working for a number of years in the power generation and utility industry within a variety of roles after beginning her career in public accounting. After showing great leadership and proven knowledge in the space, she was promoted in August of 2016 to chief financial officer. She is responsible for managing the Finance Team and focusing on the accounting and finance operations of the company including the accounting close process, financial reporting, accounting policy, internal controls, treasury, taxes, budgeting and forecasting.

Most recently, Sarah served as the vice president and controller at EquiPower Resources Corp., a private equity owned power generation Portfolio Company. At EquiPower, Sarah was responsible for managing the company’s accounting function including the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, technical accounting research, designing and implementing effective internal controls, establishing and maintaining the accuracy of financial reporting and managing the tax and treasury functions. Prior to EquiPower, Sarah held various management roles all of which focused on accounting, internal controls and financial reporting.

Sarah is a CPA and has a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a minor in Computer Information Systems from Bryant University.

Biography

Tammy joined Clarity in July 2016 and is responsible for leading the company’s legal and compliance functions. She oversees the policies and procedures for the general operation of Clarity’s compliance activities, including HIPAA Privacy and Security Standards, Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Tammy has over 15 years of experience in healthcare compliance.

Previously, Tammy was chief compliance officer and counsel at Evariant. In that role, she managed the development and execution of all aspects of Evariant’s compliance program. Before joining Evariant, Tammy was part of the legal team at Access Health CT, the state’s health insurance exchange. Access Health CT was ranked one of the top health exchanges in the country for implementation of the Affordable Care Act and enrollment. She has also held compliance positions at Pfizer and Aetna.

Tammy is a licensed attorney in Connecticut. She earned her law degree from the University of Connecticut and an accounting degree from the University of Hartford. She holds a certification in HIPAA
Privacy and Security.

Biography

Kathy joined the Clarity team in July 2011 bringing her experience in digital publishing and enterprise content management from The McGraw-Hill Companies. Her efforts for those companies resulted in more efficient content creation methods, work-flow processes, and product development and delivery opportunities.

As director of our project management office, Kathy leads a team of business analysts, quality assurance specialists and is responsible for the implementation efforts surrounding those roles. Additionally, she is responsible for governance, performance and schedule management, and the intracommunications of the business unit initiatives.

Kathy is a graduate of Columbia University – School of Engineering and Applied Science where she earned a BS in Engineering and Management Systems. She is also a graduate of Providence College and holds a BS in Engineering and Physics Systems.

Biography

Rose joined Clarity in 2009 and brings over 18 years of expertise in customer experience to the organization with over a decade dedicated to the healthcare industry. As the director of training and client experience, Rose is focused on creating an annual training plan supporting core competencies and goals of the organization as well as future functions within each department. She manages the development of onboarding training that supports Clarity’s security and compliance program along with other major areas of focus within the organization. In addition, she manages several teams of client experience specialists focused on providing strategic support to numerous health plan clients throughout the U.S. She leads the Client Experience Team in building long lasting partnerships with every client while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team.

Her goal is to continue to create and maintain a learning environment where employees are prepared to accept change, develop new skills and take responsibility for their continuous learning in support of Clarity’s business goals while ensuring that Clarity continues to provide their clients unmatched service and support.


Biography

Amy joined the Clarity team in January 2014 with a focus on enhancing the human resources foundation within the company. Prior to her arrival, she was the director of human resources for the Town of Madison where she spent three years responsible for recruitment, on-boarding, benefits, employee relations, compensation, classifications, and she negotiated five union contracts.

As director of human resources, Amy leads a team supporting the Clarity employees with payroll, benefits, technical writing, training, and administrative support. Additionally, she is responsible for Clarity’s community outreach division: Clarity for Charity.

Amy is a graduate of Western Michigan University and holds a BS in Social Psychology. She has spent over 20 years in human resources; the majority of her career has been in the healthcare field.

Biography

Barnaby joined the Clarity team in June of 2015 bringing 20 years of experience in IT system and infrastructure management. Prior to Clarity, Barnaby held leadership positions ranging from small to large International multi-billion dollar corporations. Most recently, Barnaby worked at A+E Networks where he spent close to a decade designing, building and developing their infrastructure to support their domestic and international initiatives. Along with his team of engineers, Barnaby worked to streamline and increase efficiencies while developing company standards and best practices.

As director of information technology at Clarity, Barnaby provides leadership and expertise supporting the current and future growth of the technical foundation that Clarity’s product platform thrives on. In addition to overseeing all aspects of Clarity’s technology infrastructure operations, he also leads his team in the day to day support of all production platforms to ensure availability, integrity and confidentiality of the network, servers, telecommunication services and information.

Barnaby currently holds multiple technical certifications and degrees as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
Visual Communication.

Biography

Eric joined Clarity in November 2015 bringing over 25 years of experience in sales management within the financial service and software solution industries. Prior to his arrival, he successfully led numerous sales and AE teams at several financial industry companies, including COCC as the manager of sales support and operations, Fiserv, were he held the role of vice president of business development and alliances, and software startup Open Solutions, as vice president of sales and alliances.

While at Open Solutions Eric was primarily tasked with building a client base. He also contributed in the areas of product roadmap strategy and commercialization. Eric's efforts during his 19 year tenure included the negotiation of over 100 new business agreements and the management of dozens of alliance partnerships, which delivered over $120M in annual revenues.

As the director of sales at Clarity, Eric will lead a Sales Team of both inside and outside sales representatives, providing sales training, forecasting, strategy and relationship realization to exceed corporate sales goals and expand market share.

Eric is a graduate of the University of New Haven and holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Administration.

Biography

Sharon joined the Clarity team in August 2013 as an operations business analyst. Prior to joining Clarity, she was an auditor for Ernst & Young and before that, a controller at an IT consulting firm, previously known as Command Systems. Through these experiences, Sharon gained valuable business knowledge in areas such as team work, analytics, problem solving, process and procedures.

In April, 2016, after being a valuable part of the Operations Team at Clarity for several years, she was promoted to the director of operations. She now oversees the Vendor Management Department in addition to continuing to focus on daily operations, process improvement and business intelligence.

Sharon has a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Economics from Bates College and a Master of Sciences Degree in Professional Accounting from the University of Hartford.

Russ is a partner at North Bridge Growth Equity. His areas of focus include technology enabled services, communications and software companies. Russ partners with passionate entrepreneurs who are proud of their success but who see the opportunity to create category-defining businesses. He works closely with his portfolio companies as they add to their board and team, evaluate acquisitions, and create long term strategic plans.

Russ joined North Bridge Growth Equity in the spring of 2007. Prior to North Bridge, he was a partner at M/C Venture Partners, where he invested in technology and communications companies. Before M/C, he worked at private equity firm, TA Associates, as an associate in the technology group and at Alex. Brown & Sons as an investment banking analyst.

Russ has a MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB from Princeton University.

Biography

Roshen joined North Bridge Growth Equity in 2007. Roshen has been making growth equity investments for over 10 years and focuses on the e-commerce, financial technology, healthcare technology and software sectors. He is actively involved with North Bridge's investments in Clarity Software Systems, Dyn, Seniorlink, SmartPak and Valence Health.

Before joining North Bridge, Roshen was with Summit Partners, a $15 billion private equity firm where he was involved in growth equity investments and management-led buyouts. Previously, he was a corporate strategy consultant at Deloitte Consulting advising domestic and international healthcare and technology corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, growth strategy, operations and new product development. He started his career as an investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group at FleetBoston Financial.

Roshen has an AB in Psychology and Asian Studies from Bowdoin College, where he was a Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholar.


Biography

In addition to serving on the Clarity board of directors, Chris also serves on the board of the Independence Blue Cross (IBC), Corporate Call Center and is vice chairman of the Devereux Foundation. He also serves as an advisor to several companies including Health Advocate, Long River Ventures and Medint.

Chris served as chairman of the board of NaviNet until the company was acquired by a private equity firm partnering with a group of health plans in 2012. NaviNet is a health information technology company that connects hospitals and physicians throughout the country with many of the nation's health insurance carriers. He also served on the board of Healthrageous until that company was sold to an insurance carrier in 2013.

Chris formerly served as chief operating officer and executive vice president at Independence Blue Cross (IBC), one of the largest health insurance carriers in the nation with over seven million members. As COO, he was responsible for leading IBC's sales and marketing, contracting and provider networks, medical management, operations, information technology, and government programs. He also served as chairman of IBC's pharmacy, worker's compensation and third-party administrator subsidiaries. Chris retired from IBC in July 2010 after a 35-year career with three different Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.

Biography

Brad is the CEO of Modular Thermal Technologies (MTT), the producer of the CryoMAX product. He has over 30 years of experience in building and leading entrepreneurial ventures like Tunstall Inc., where he was president and CEO prior to joining MTT. Brad was also the president and CEO of NaviNet, a leader in unified patient information management (UPIM). He successfully sold this organization in 2011.

Prior to NaviNet, Brad was the U.S. president and CEO of Wincor-Nixdorf, a $2.6 billion firm that is focused on the ATM and point of sale marketplace. Prior to Wincor-Nixdorf, Brad successfully sold his first company, c.w. Costello & Associates, Inc. to Covansys (now CSC). In 2000, Waugh founded Watch Hill Partners, Inc., a company focused on customer relationship management optimization and mobility for Fortune 1000 companies. Watch Hill Partners was sold to MasterCard International in May 2004.

Brad was awarded the 2004 Technology Award for Entrepreneurship from the Entrepreneurship Forum of New England. He has also served on the boards of the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority, the Narragansett Bay Commission, ArcStream Solutions (sold to Keane), Antenna Software (sold to PEGA Systems), and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. At Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Waugh served a short time as the acting CIO.

He is the founder and past president of the RI Technology Council and a past board member of Boston University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree from the School of Management.

Biography

John has lead and contributed to executive teams for over three decades. He has a passion for seeking new opportunities and growth. In addition to his work with Clarity, John does this in his role as a board member for eMindful, Chalkzen and Meals on Wheels of America. Previously, John served as the CEO and president of AARP Services Inc. (ASI), a for profit subsidiary of AARP. In this role he has led the significant expansion of new brand licensing relationships targeted for the younger of the 50+ segment and multi-cultural segments as well. John has also generated growth by expanding and leveraging distribution channels.

Prior to joining ASI in 2006, John has had an extensive career in the health insurance and health solutions industries. John was the president of Magellan Behavioral Health which provided specialty care services to over 70 million individuals, through insurers, employers and government programs.

John has had progressively challenging roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ (Horizon), where he moved up the management ranks to head of the largest division and became the youngest chief marketing officer in the company's history. At CIGNA Healthcare, where he demonstrated his skills for growing the business, as well as his communication and leadership skills, he moved from a corporate officer leading sales to becoming the president and general manager for CIGNA Mid-Atlantic, which encompassed care delivery, as well as sales.

John is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and has completed executive marketing programs through Darden and Kellogg.
